Get answers to some of the most common questions about PROMITOR™ Dietary Fibers

Q. Are PROMITOR™ Dietary Fibers approved by the FDA?

 A. PROMITOR™ Dietary Fibers are generally recognized as safe (GRAS). PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 70 meets the requirements of the GRAS Affirmation 21CFR§184.1865, Corn Syrup, and PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 85 meets the requirements of the GRAS Affirmation 21CFR§184.1414, maltodextrin. 


Q. What is the percentage of fiber in PROMITOR™ Dietary Fibers?

 A. PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 70 provides a minimum of 70 percent total dietary fiber on a dry solids basis, and PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 85 provides a minimum of 85 percent total dietary fiber on a dry solids basis, per AOAC method 2001.03. 
 

Q. What is glycemic response and does PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber have an effect on glycemic response?

 A. The glycemic response is a measure of how blood glucose concentrations change over time compared to a known control. Eating foods that produce a lower postprandial blood glucose level is thought to have a beneficial physiological effect. For PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 70, the glycemic response compared to glucose is approximately 29 percent.

 

 

Q. What is the caloric content?

 A. The caloric content of PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 70 is 2 Kcal/g dry product, and PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber 85 is 1.2 Kcal/g dry product. 
 

Q. How process stable is this product?

 A. PROMITOR™ Dietary Fibers are extremely stable to heat, pH, and processing stresses.


 

Q. Can this product be used in cultured products without any loss over time?

 A. Yes, we have studied PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber in cultured products and have not seen any loss of fiber content through pasteurization or fermentation.


 

Q. Is this product stable in high acid foods?

 A. Absolutely. PROMITOR™ Soluble Corn Fiber is extremely stable in low pH systems.
