What does prebiotic mean?

Everyone has good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract that is necessary for proper digestion. A prebiotic is a substance (typically a fiber) that feeds, or stimulates the growth and metabolism of “good” bacteria in the large intestine and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria
